Effective date: 2026-09-28
Accessibility is not a project with an end date. We do not have a marketing department telling us we are perfect at it — we have a phone line, and we would genuinely rather hear from you than guess.
1. Our commitment
We are committed to meeting our obligations under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2000 (AODA), including the Customer Service Standard, and to treating people with disabilities with dignity and independence. We aim to make this website usable with assistive technology, and to provide our information in a format that works for you when the standard one does not.
2. The standard we build to
This website is designed to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA: the standard referenced by Ontario’s Information and Communications Standard. We aim to design and test against it rather than claim compliance and move on. If you find a barrier, that is a real bug to us, not a technicality.
3. What we have done on this site
- Semantic HTML with a logical heading order on every page
- A visible “skip to main content” link for keyboard and screen reader users
- Every link, button, form control and accordion operable by keyboard, with a visible focus outline
- Form fields with real labels, required-state text and hint text rather than placeholder-only labels
- A status message that screen readers announce when a quote request is submitted
- No reliance on colour alone to convey meaning; text contrast aimed at WCAG AA ratios
- Descriptive alternative text on informative images, and empty alt text on decorative ones
- No auto-playing video, no animations that run regardless of your settings, and support for the operating system’s reduced-motion preference
- Text that resizes to 200% without loss of content or function, and layouts that reflow to a single column on small screens
- No CAPTCHA puzzles for ordinary visitors — spam protection works without asking you to solve anything
- Pages that work without JavaScript for reading and for submitting a quote request
4. Known limitations
Being honest about the gaps is part of accessibility. As of the effective date above:
- Photographs on this site are licensed stock imagery. Their alternative text describes the type of work shown, not a specific client project, and cannot describe a real job site in detail.
- The FAQ sections use expandable panels. They are keyboard operable and work without JavaScript, but the expanded state change may not be announced by every screen reader.
- We do not commission formal third-party accessibility audits; testing is done by us and by users who report problems. If you need a specific conformance statement for procurement, ask and we will tell you exactly what has and has not been tested.
5. Getting information in another format
You can ask us for any information on this site — or about our services — in another format: larger print, plain text, or read to you over the phone. Call (905) 536-6173 or email [email protected], and tell us what format works for you.
There is no charge for this, and it is not an inconvenience.
6. Accommodation when we attend your property
When we come to do work, we will do what we reasonably can to accommodate you: explaining what we are doing before we start, announcing ourselves and giving you time to answer the door, working around medical equipment or mobility needs, bringing information you can read at the size you need, and coordinating with a support person if that helps. Tell us what you need when you book, or when we arrive.
7. Service animals and support persons
Service animals are welcome at any property we work on. If you use a support person, they are welcome to be present while we work. We will not charge you extra for either.
8. Feedback and complaints
Tell us about a barrier and we will fix it, or explain why we cannot and what the alternative is. Contact us by phone at (905) 536-6173, or by email at [email protected]. We aim to acknowledge accessibility feedback within 2 business days and to give you a substantive response within 10 business days. If a fix needs longer, we will tell you the plan and when to expect it.
Feedback can be given in whatever way works for you — by phone, in writing, or by asking someone to contact us on your behalf.
9. If you are not satisfied with our response
Ontario’s accessibility laws are administered by the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery. Information about accessibility standards and how to raise a concern is available at ontario.ca — Accessibility in Ontario. We would always rather hear from you first, and we will take it seriously.
10. Changes
This statement is reviewed at least once a year, and whenever we make significant changes to the website or our service delivery. The effective date above changes when it does.
